She felt awkward, she felt like a mistake.
In a world full of perfectionists,
she sure was out of place.

Her hair was always “such a mess”;
she played in the sun and
she loved her shoes more than any pretty-frilly dress.

But people had to say,
their words were meant to break.

She got bruised,
she tumbled and fell down.
People’s criticism got to her heart
so she hid her shoes
and tried to fit in a dress.

Her hair was a lot smoother,
her appearance, according to people, a lot more better.
But her heart was grieving,
in a sea full of people
her boat was surely sinking.
